THE START OF US | Could this be the start of something? Chloe Laws begins February’s theme with her poem on hopeful beginnings.

Poetry

Sat on the wooden tables at my local pub.
two bottles of wine in and this is starting to get fun.
we ask well-timed questions and hold eye contact just a little too long.

you read me some of your poetry and ask about my mum. cigarettes are smoked just to lean in for a spark.

we speak about art and debate the important stuff. there’s a dance and a laugh before you ask me ‘is this where it all starts?’
