Soon I’ll walk out,
let my bare feet kiss
fresh and dewy soil.
I’ll paint my nails a shade of blush
called Eternal Optimist,
swap my overthinking hat
for a crown of daffodils,
bring home white tulips
in brown paper wrapping,
and sing with sparrows
sat on windowsills.
I’ll watch bees dance
drunk in a pollen filled haze;
I’ll drink too–cold tumblers
filled with hope and rose water lemonade.
I’ll break bread
in sun drenched patios. I’ll even dare
dip my toes in the English sea.
And when I look up this time,
I will soak up the bright blue sky
dotted with clouds of blossoming trees.
I will make friends with joy again
I will build a temple for grief.
